That's Magic right there! Magic on paper!

If you've never met a Disney nerd before, well you just stumbled upon one, my friend! ✩

tink-aka-disnerd:

I’ve been debating whether or not to post this but I can’t hold it back any longer. Feel free to disagree with me, it’s just my opinion.

I hate the “new looks” for the Disney princesses. I think that they wipe away any and all expression from their faces and make them into the bedazzled Barbie dolls that they most certainly are not. Snow White looks much younger now then she does in the movie. Cinderella has an arrogant look about her now instead of the kind and shy look she had in the movies. Aurora’s facial structure has been altered. Ariel looks older and has lost her look of curiosity. Belle no longer has her kind and caring face and shares the arrogant look with Cinderella. Jasmine looks blank and no longer has her look of independence. Pocahontas’ facial structure has also been altered and she no longer has that knowing and wise look. Mulan is now dolled up and has lost her tom-boy appearance that defines her so well. Tiana lost her dimples and Rapunzel has lost her big eyes and round face which means that she has lost the dreamer look she had in the movie. (Also Merida has been altered. Her hair is tamed and she is wearing the blue dress that she hates. I would have included her but I could only post 10 pictures. Sorry)

Also changing them is an insult to the original animators who probably worked for weeks trying to get their faces just right. These changes have been a spit in the face to those animators and they have improved nothing.

Finally, it diminishes what these princesses stand for. They used to represent kindness, curiosity, love, independence, rebellion, wisdom, hard work, determination, freedom, and dreams. They’ve taught us that you must work hard and make it through hard times to get your happily ever after. They also taught us that there are happily ever afters. But these new princesses have discontinued all of that. Based off of what I see here, I see girls being pretty and that’s all that matters. Almost every day when somebody mocks the Disney princesses and say that they are everything wrong with society regarding women I argue to the death defending them. But I can’t do that if they now look like Barbie dolls.

Bring back the real Disney princesses. I want to see Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel and Merida. Not these imposters.

Learning new techniques and figured Disney’s Pocahontas would be a nice subject… Okay for a first try - but more practice is needed ;)

artsy-fartsy-tartsy:

My fake concept art for Disney’s Moana (or Spirited. They’re thinking about changing the name). This is how I picture Moana to look like. I researched as much I could about what she might wear during ancient Hawaii (if this was historically accurate, she would be practically naked. BUT this is Disney). To Hell with the racist coconut bra and tea leaf skirt.
I’m part Hawaiian so I’m oober pumped to see the movie (I just hope it represents our culture well).
